COVER ARTIST: LANCE LYONS
This dramatic wood carving of a rooster fish captured Judges' Choice Best of Show at the 2001 World Fish Carving Championships®. The artist was Lance Lyons of Jamul, California. He has worked for the past 28 years at his family-owned taxidermy business, Lyons & O'Haver, Inc., located in La Mesa, California. Lance began carving in 1995, and in 1999 won Second in World Decorative Lifesize with an omilu. Each of his carvings are 100 percent hand-carved, using no natural or man-made objects. Most of his carvings are commissioned, except for a few that are offered in galleries in Vail, Aspen and Jackson Hole. Visit his website: www.lancelyons.com.
