This issue’s cover features a mother mountain lion with her two kittens. This was a work of taxidermy that captured a true composition of nature with the highest degree of artistry and craftsmanship. The taxidermist who created this piece of taxidermy art was Ashley Barrett of Chambersburg, Pennsylvania. This entry at the 2024 World Taxidermy Championships® won two Best in World titles for Ashley: Medium/Small Mammal (top kitten) and Best in World Large Mammals (mother mountain lion). It also went on to capture Competitors’ Choice Best of Show and the Simon Blackshaw Award for Judges’ Choice Best of Show. This is the second WTC Best of Show award earned by Ashley Barrett, the first competitor to do so in the show’s 41-year history. See the story of the 2024 Wold Shows in this issue.
