ON THE COVER
Polar Bear by Dale Manning and John Ottman
It has only been a few years since the federal government relaxed the restrictions to import legally harvested polar bears into the United States. Hundreds of skins were being held in Canada to either be mounted then shipped to the US, or for the skins to be shipped directly to US taxidermists for mounting. Regardless, these beautiful trophies have finally made their way to game rooms and private museums across North America. The polar bear on our cover was mounted by Dale Manning and John Ottman, both from Montana, who entered it at the annual NTA convention held in Billings last year. The bear was harvested by John Ottman and the entry earned a first place at this prestigious competition.
