UWE BAUCH TREE SPARROWS
In a conversation Kathy and I had with Uwe Bauch (OOH-vah Bock), mainly through an interpreter, he told us one of his dreams was to come to the U.S. and compete at the World Taxidermy Championships . Uwe grew up in East Germany under Communist rule, and until the Iron Curtain came down in 1989, there was little opportunity for Uwe to fulfill his dream. Today, there is indeed the freedom to realize dreams and goals, and in 2001, Uwe achieved his ultimate goal by winning Best in World Bird with a warbler. This year, he surpassed it by again winning Best in World Bird as well as Judges Choice Best of Show! His sparrows captured the essence of what taxidermy is all about, re-creating nature with the perfection only a true artist can do.
