Issue 64, Summer 2001

COVER ARTIST: SIMON BLACKSHAW

For a taxidermist, Best in World Fish, Judges' Choice Best of Show, and first place for the Carl E. Akeley Award--any one of these three awards would be an accomplishment of a lifetime. Simon Blackshaw of Venlo, Netherlands, captured all THREE of them with the composition on our cover! The artist and his piece totally embrace the Akeley criteria: excellent taxidermy skills, artistic impact, a total work of art, three-dimensional with visual balance, color, shape and form, and creativity. This excellent photograph, along with the World Show winners featured on the inside pages, are by Glen Browning.
