ON THE COVER Tom Matuska and Brett Wingfield
The beautiful northern pike composition on this issue's cover was mounted by the talented duo of Tom Matuska and Brett Wingfield. At the 2011 World Taxidermy Championships it won Best of Category (for fish) in the Collective Artists Division with a score of 95. (See page 34 for our article on the highly competitive division.) Three months later in July at the annual NTA competition, it won 4 more awards: Collective Artists Award First Place, National Champion Warmwater Fish (skin), Challenge of the Art of Taxidermy First Place (Tohickon Award of Distinction), and the WASCO Award. Tom and Brett are producing a feature article on mounting the fish that may be ready for the next issue. Tom and Brett are from Spirit Lake, Iowa.
