Painting a Longbill Spearfish

by Mike Kirkhart

"It is interesting that when they are held up for a photograph, the fish shows off its translucent dorsal fin and brilliant stark colors. I’ve seen them with vertical gold bars on their sides but the photos of them in their bold blue and chrome colors draw me in for painting them as the contrast colors show off their uniqueness. Lots of blue and chrome are part of the prettiest color phase and it is a tough paint job to pull off and do impressively."
